Brackets around a note.
The brackets in the attached png show that the brackets touch the leger lines and the stem.
Perhaps this is by design, but it seems cramped to me.

I do not have "Automatic placement" in my inspector screen. Where did you find that screen?

That seems to be a 3.0-ism, available only the experimental nightly builds. I have no idea what it does, but anyhow, all you need to do is adjust the horizontal offset (or drag, or double click and use arrow keys) as with any other element.
