Can't change drum sound
I have a score with a percussion part set to hand clap. I want to change it to tambourine. But when I change it to tambourine with the staff properties dialogue, it still sounds like hand clap. If I Edit Drumset and click on 54 for tambourine then Apply and OK, it still sounds like hand clap. And if I Add Instrument tambourine, the new instrument is marked tambourine but still sounds like hand clap. Could someone please tell me what I need to do to get a tambourine sound?
Musescore 2.0.3 on W10. The score was created with an earlier version of Musescore, but I don't get an error msg when I open it with the current version.

In order to get good advice, it is best to attach the score you are having troiuble with (see File Attachments link right below where you type your post). Otherwise, we have to guess.
But in this case, I think I can make a decent one. Depending on which soundfont you are using and how your drumset is set up, chances are excellent that the notes on the staff have pitches that correspond to hand clap according to MIDI. Changing the instrument changes the drumset setup for new notes, but the existing pitches will still be those for hand clap. So you'd have to "transpose" the notes to the correct MIDI pitches for tambourine. In this case, at least for the test score I just tried it one, you can get the effect by selecting the contents of the staff and pressing either the down or up arrow. SInce tambourine is the only sound defined for the staff, either arrow will change the pitch to that sound.
Not sure why adding a new isntrument didn't work, however. That is what makes me wonder if you have set up something incorrectly in your score. Perhaps the fact that it was imported from 1.3 might be relevant, not sure. So again, please attach it so we can see what is going on.
Thanks, transposing the drum part does make it sound like tambourine. So my problem is solved. If you want to investigate further I attach the score in question before I did the transpose. This is a score in process so shouldn't be further distributed. Beginning in measure 49 the tambourine still sounds like hand claps (at least on my system.)

Yes, as I said, existing notes will need to be fixed. But you also said if you added a new tambourine staff, it would not behave correctly. I tried this with your score and it worked as expected for me:
1) load score
2) Edit / Instruments ("I")
3) add a new tambourine staff
4) add a note to this new staff
result: it plays with a tambourine sound, just as it should
