Strumming of guitars

I am trying to put in a set of strumming notes with a certain tablature that looks like a fretboard. For the strummed notes that are from my score that is in a book, they are all eighth notes and the note head is a dashed line that is found in the arpeggios and glissandi section. How can I make the note head just the dashed line. And also with the tablature from my score, it looks just like a fretboard from the fretboard section and I don't know how to place it in like a fretboard. Can someone please help me?
