Some music symbols overlap other symbols when first opening a score
When I first open something on MuseScore with some crescendo/decrescendos and dynamics symbols on the music, the crescendo/decrescendo lines overlap the dynamics marking. Please see the attached png file so you know what I mean. Why does this happen? It's annoying because it shows up on the printed score too. I always have to move either the line or the mark and that fixes it, but only for the current session. If I close MuseScore and open the same scores again, the overlaps come back.

Oh, and btw, my computer runs 64-bit Windows 7 (the bug was still there in 32-bit as well) and the version of MuseScore is 1.1.
If you move a symbol, it should stay moved, and does for me. Can you attach a score that demonstrates the problem?
As for why they overlapped in the first place, well, it looks like that's how it was entered. The hairpin should have been created to stop earlier, or the final dynamic attached to later note. Looks like you (or whoever created the score) *made* them overlap.
Did you look at the attachment? That might help. I've also added two more attachments. They depict what it should look like, even after you close and reopen MuseScore. And I've tried deleting the hairpin and making a new one, but it didn't work. The problem still exists. I put all the dynamics and all that stuff after I notate all the notes I want.
Yes, but these are just graphics. Without an actual score, there is no way for anyone to try to reproduce what you are describing. As I said, I find that moving elements does work. Although there are quirks with dynamics involving the text style (it's often ignored,, except when it isn't), I haven't had any problems with dragging.
But looking at the graphics you just uploaded, my question is, why are you dragging dynamics at all? Why didn't you just create the hairpin to stop where you wanted it in the first place? Again, seeing the actual score would help a lot.
To get rid of the overlap, I have to slightly move either the hairpin or the dynamics marking. Then they'll go back to their correct positions.
Here are the offending scores then. I do not need anyone's opinions at this time on how the music sounds. They are solely for trying to resolve this issue I have here. :)
Something seems kind of corrupt about the hairpins in question. Did you create them using the instructions in the Handbook? It looks like they are actually attached to notes quite a bit to the right of the notes to which the concluding dynamic markings are attached. Double click a hand to see a dotted line showing you where they attached. Simply deleting them then recreating them normally - stopping stort of the note with the concluding dynamic - works fine for me. Here's one of the samples corrected in this manner.
OK, so after looking at the handbook, I took the time to fix ALL the hairpin issues in ALL of my other compositions. I simply didn't read the handbook in detail. Thank you for the tip.
Can we close this issue?
I am attaching the new copies of the compositions. A new problem exists when first opening the scores. While there are no more overlappings, when I first open the scores (or reopen after closing it), it doesn't look the way it had been after editing some things. The pdf files attached depict the way they should look like (look at the last page of each piece).
I really think this is a bug within MuseScore.
If you are talking about some measures being on the previous line. You should use line breaks to enforce MuseScore layout. See : Break or spacer .
I close this issue. Please use the forum to discuss any problem if you don't have a step by step guide to reproduce the bug.
