Open Hi-Hat sound
I can't find an open Hi-Hat sound (should last for the duration of the note) in the standard drum set (you know, "standard", "power", "jazz" etc) instrument bank of MuseScore. A closed Hi-Hat sound does exist.

The Open Hihat sample is to be found on MIDI Note #46
It is possible that the ADSR envelope needs tweaking to account for FluidSynth's excessive gating tendencies.
It sounds fine in Viena!

Thanks. The sound does indeed continue after start of the note. However, it does not end when the note stops. It slowly peters out. On a real drum set, when you take you're foot of the Hi-Hat, it falls shut and the note stops abruptly. Doesn't happen here.

Of course not - you need to play the Pedal Hi Hat sample at the point you want it to stop.
Having this happen automatically is sadly beyond the capablilites of SF2 technology.

In actual fact the hihat does not fall shut when you remove your foot from the pedal.
Or at least no hihat I have ever seen works this way.
You use the pedal to close the cymbals, not to open them. The central rod is springloaded, keeping the 2 cymbals apart.

You're quite right. But doesn't change the core of my question. I guess I will have to wait for a newer version of MuseScore then, for a Hi-Hat sound that stops at the end of the note, as if the imaginary Hi-Hat pedal had been pressed.

I wouldn't expect a newer version of MuseScore to add support for an instrument that does not exist. But perhaps someone out there has designed a soundfont that works that way for some experimental purpose, and you couold use that with the current version.
