Multi measure rest crash.

I tried the http://musescore.org/en/node/1366 link to correct the crash problem when making multi measure rests. Now when I try the suggestion to save and reload the program stops working yet again.
Is there a way to correct this ? Could it be the way the multi measure rests are created is causing the problem with Windows Vista?
Is there a way to make the multi measure rests are part of a drag and click interface. Right click on a measure and drag the cursor to the point you want the multi measure rests to stop and then a drop down menu that says collapse measures yes /no?
