How to indicate that student can play either ending, not both
A practice piece has two, two measure alternative endings. Each features a different style, and either one or the other is played (player's choice), but not both. Can I indicate this on the score? If so, how?
I've looked around for an answer, but I don't even know how to properly formulate my question for a computer search of the topics here. Hopefully I'm being clear enough for a real person to understand what I need.

It's not really a standard notation, but if I needed to convey something like that, I'd use voltas to indicate the endings, then just add staff text to say "choose either ending" or whatever you think might be clear to the player.

Thank you. I will explore your suggestion.
I would do something similar if there is no standard. I would put an "optional to coda", then a fine and a coda. In the score notes I would explain this. It might be neater depending on the length of the optional section.

Thank you very much. I knew there was not a standard, which is part of the problem I had forming my question. Thanks for your help.
