Musescore only starts once

There is something wrong with my copy of MuseScore.

I am using Windows 10 Home Edition on a machine with reasonably capable spec. I had MuseScore 1 until last year I decided to make the switch. I uninstalled MuseScore 1 and I am now using MuseScore 2.0.3. Rev 3c7a69d.There seems to be a problem with the new version though after a few month of usage.

Everytime I start up my Windows and then MuseScore, everything works just fine. I can see on Task Manager that the MuseScore.exe 32 bit process appears under application. When I closes MuseScore, it exits normally and its process is killed off.

However after closing, if I restart MuseScore now, I see that the computer loads a little while and the mouse cursor turns to the wait cursor. Around 10 seconds, the mouse cursor turns back to normal and nothing is started up the screen. I see in the Task Manager that the MuseScore.exe 32 bit process is now under background processes. The process just got stuck there running, using 7-9% CPU power and 36.5MB of memory. Neither the user interface nor splash screen show up. If I start MuseScore once more again, another process gets created just in the same way. No user interface. Even if I "End Task" the processes and restart MuseScore again, same thing happens - No user interface, but just a new background process.

To put in simple words, I can't start MuseScore again after I've opened and closed once. I have to reboot Windows in order to start MuseScore again.

Since I want to get more and more music-related work done everyday, this becomes very inconvenient for me. Can someone help me out? Thank you all in advance. I don't know what other technical information that I can provide to help someone trace/solve my problem. Please guide me if needed.

It seems possible something is wrong with the score you were editing at the time you closed MuseScore. Or something about the last thing(s) you did while editing it. In order to investigate further, we'd need you to attach your score and give precise step by step instructions to reproduce the problem, starting from:

1) Start MuseScore
2) File / Open
3) select score
4) ...
5) ...
6) ...
...
X) Exit

It's everything that happens after opening the score and before exiting we need to know.

I don't think it's got anything to do with any score. Even if I just start MuseScore without opening any score files, and I close it straight after it shows the new untitled score, it's still not working.

Steps:
1 - Start MuseScore
2 - Wait for the user interface to show up, new untitled score being displayed, and new score wizard window popping up.
3 - Do nothing to MuseScore. Just close the wizard window and close its main user interface window.
4 - Restart MuseScore and I see it starts as background process. The process seems busy as it is constantly taking up 7-12% CPU power.

In that case, see the Handbook under "Known incompatibilities" to see if anything looks relevant. If not, see the section on command line options and try starting without sound, without the web view, etc to see if that narrows things down.

Thank you. I've found the solution. It turns out that the problem has really got to do with the "Known incompatibilities" - namely "QTBUG-6127".

It's mainly because of the Wacom tablet driver I have installed earlier on the computer and MuseScore relies on Qt framework for its user interface. The Wacom tablet driver has issues with applications that run on Qt in general.

After any applications on Qt close, Qt is unable to launch again after the applications restart. Windows sees that the restarted MuseScore has no user interface and mistakenly treats MuseScore as a background process.

Thank you all for the help. REALLy REALLY appreciated.
