How Should I Slur This?
Hello,
I am arranging a piece for a Marching Band; however, not necessarily for a Marching Show. We call them Stand Tunes.
In the original song there is a guitar solo. I gave this solo to the first Trumpet. Now, I'm not a trumpet player, but I do know that there should probably be some slurs in this solo. I just don't know where to put them. Can you help?
Attached is the Trumpet Solo.
Thanks,
Morgan R.

Just a suggestion. Bar 3 has this interesting syncopating ties, which breaks the longer slurs. And the third slur in that bar is a bit tricky, because there are two consecutive A under the same slur. Might need some special articulation mark for the player to know that the second A needs a tongue attack. At least on a saxophone it's not trivial, repeating same tone and remaining the legato feel.
Given that the guitar is a plucked instrument I would think tonguing to approximate it would be more appropriate than legato especially on a fairly fast passage.
If the idea is to mark phrases then this could be done with a breath mark or use the slur with staccato markings on the notes beneath the slur.
