unfamiliar symbol now appears in all my scores

Hi - I must have changed some setting and can't find what I did. Now every lead sheet I have created has a symbol like the flag in a golf hole at the beginning of the score, and another one pointed the other way at the end. What is it called, what is it for, and how do I turn it off?
