Ultimate measure

Hi,
I've been using MuseScore 9.3 with Windows.
I have a problem when writing a piece of music that beings with a pickup measure. I expected the ultimate measure to automatically adjust, but it is a full measure. I have just downloaded version 0.9.4 but the problem persists!
Please advise

See measure operations in the handbook. The Duration section tells you how to change the actual duration of a measure to less than what the time signature indicates.
