Playback static
I am currently running 64 bit Linux Mint 18.1 and have Musescore 2.0.3 revision 3c7a69d.
At the moment, each time I start Musescore, I have to go through View>Synthesizer and tweak the volume slightly, to get rid of some nasty sounding static.
Is there a patch or a permanent fix to correct this problem?
Thank you.

That is the procedure that I do each time I start musescore. The only difference is that you suggested to 'set as default'... Sorry. No change. The static disappeared immediately after the tweak. But returned when shutdown and restarted Musescore.
Just a note. I downloaded the 2.1 portable app image and the problem is still there...
My apologies for causing you extra effort...

Have you already tried with: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/revert-factory-settings ?
You can try uninstalling the soundfont and install it again (step 3: https://musescore.org/en/node/96811)

Just did that. Still no change. I have downloaded several soundfonts some time ago and have tried them all. Unfortunately, selecting a different soundfont, only changed the 'quality' of the instruments but the static persists.
This is only a minor problem, in the grand scheme of things, and is only an slight annoyance. If the problem is me, and most times it is, I can live with tweaking each new session. If the problem is more widely known, then I am quite happy to wait for a 'patch'.
