Change instruments on the same staff in the middle of a song.
Im writing a concert band score and the Percussion 2 part consists of Vibraphone and Tubular bells. In the beginning there is only tubular bells playing. Later on there is vibraphone, and it switches a few times throughout the song. Is it possible to make one staff that plays two instruments? Or will I have to just make another staff?

If you do a search on this topic, you'll find a number of relevant threads describing possible workarounds. Basically, yes, using multiple staves will do the trick for playback; you can then possible use Hide Empty Staves to cover this up for the actual score & parts. You can also get this effect by editing instruments.xml to add the second instrument as a "channel" of the first (much as with muted trumpet or pizzicato violins) and do the switch via staff text. Future versions will support a direct change.
