Feature Request: Specify Glissando Line Thickness

• Sep 3, 2017 - 04:14

I looked in the forums for a similar feature request, but (surprisingly) didn't see one. Apologies if this has already been suggested.

I would love it if the line thickness for glissando (slide) were customizable. Currently there is no option to make the line thicker, which is what I want to do.

My use case: I am notating a collection of scale fingerings for guitar, and slides are typically used to show a change in the left-hand position on the fretboard. There are several points where the position of the hand changes between the same note (e.g. end one bar playing a D in 4th position with your fourth finger, start the next bar playing the same D in 7th position with your first finger). So the glissando is placed between two copies of the same note, in a straight horizontal line. This means that they get lost, since they are indistinguishable from the lines of the staff itself.

I do have a workaround, which is to hand-edit each glissando so it is slightly above the staff lines. But this is kind of a PITA. It would be far more convenient to simply make the lines thicker.

In this case, which concerns only the glissandos between the D and the other notes located specifically on the staff lines (E, G etc.), it is not necessary to hand-edit each glissando to avoid the overlay of the glissando and the staff line.

After you have finished entering your score, you will save time by selecting the involved glissandos (by holding down the Ctrl key), then in the Inspector (F8), by changing the value of the vertical offset eg -0.30 /-0 50.
