Reducing the gap between the displayed pages
2.1 version / Windows7
On this thread (https://musescore.org/fr/node/251491), a user wanted to be able to reduce the gap between the pages. For my part, I support this request.
A background of a bright color in combination with a "neutral" paper causes a strong contrast. The eye must adapt continuously between areas of very different appearance and luminance. This is one of the proven factors of visual fatigue.
Wish: reduce this gap! And the more the better, probably. That said, I can not say how much, not knowing the effect produced.
For illustration, a comparison between 1) MuseScore, 2) Sibelius and 3) Dorico. I have a favorite, you guess which one!
Comments
In case of the first screenshot (MuseScore), why would one use this contrasting background color?
The current gap is 50 px.
The gap between vertical pages is 5px.

"why would one use this contrasting background color?"
And why not? :)
For develop: in Preferences -> Canvas, you have the choice of the background colors. So, if a user likes a specific color (has a favorite color), again, why don't allow to him this choice, without the constraint (or reduced constraint) of a tiring visual contrast.
See the example of the user choice, a red color (on mentioned french thread):
By the way, I had not checked yet, but in version 3.0 dev., (76160cc), this gap is much less wide, and from what I see, with the perfect, appropriate values.
- 2.1/2.2dev.
- 3.0 dev.
I also support this request and wish an equal spacing between all the sheets (from the 1st to the last)
