Pizzicato Puzzle

See the attached score. Note that Violins 1 & 2, Violas, and Contrabasses are all marked PIZZ. All have been properly defined as pizzicato in Staff Text Properties. However the Contrabasses will not play pizzicato. In fact, were one to put notes into the Violoncellos staff and mark those as PIZZ and define them as so in Staff Text Properties they also will not play pizzicato. But the Violins and Violas sound as pizzicato.

Removing the staff text and replacing it with a new Pizz. staff text seemed to fix the problem. I'm not sure what was wrong with the original staff text.

I tried this and the problem persists. You say you were able to fix it? Could I ask that you reply and attach the changed .mscz file so I can try it?
Otherwise I will continue to try other things and see if the problem goes away.

I fixed it by moving the bass staff to the top of the score, saving and exiting MuseScore, opening the score, then moving the bass staff back down to the bottom. Now it plays pizzicato. Repeating this with the cellos also fixed it.

Well, not exactly. After I fixed the cellos, the problem returned to the basses. Then after more moving things around the problem started happening with the violas. Right now I can have pizzicato in only one of the three groups violas, cellos and basses.
I have tried moving 2 of the three groups to the top in the same session, but then MuseScore crashes when I click OK.

After some experimenting I can say that this problem is definitely related to the relative position of the affected staff. That is, if one creates or moves the bass staff upwards the problem goes away (but then another staff becomes the victim). It appears there's something in the code that limits where a staff is located before it can play pizzicato.
I noticed this problem only started with the current release. I created a couple of scores with the prior release and I had no trouble getting the lower strings to play pizzicato.
When I said I'd fixed it my methodology was poor. I had trouble hearing the bass with all the other instruments so I removed all the instruments except cello and bass. In that instance replacing the staff text fixed the problem.
Working with the full score I copied the contents of the harps staves and removed them. After removing the harps the bass sounded pizzicato. I added the harps back into the score and pasted the notes back it. The strings continued to sound pizzicato.
I'm not really sure what's going on here. Have you experienced this with any other scores?

No, this is the first time this has happened. In fact, the two Schubert movements I did earlier featured string pizzicatos. I had no problem with them.
I'm going to try what you did with the harps. Did you copy the harp measures to another score and pasted them back, or copied to another place in the same score?
Probably not related, but sometimes, when I've added the pizzicato to a stave, and then click on the pizz notes to hear the notes, they don't sound pizzicato. Then I save and exit MuseScore and then restart and reload the score. Then the pizzicatos happen.
