plugins
I seem to be slow on my mac. I downloaded a plugin and now what? I've opened it, don't know how to get it to show up on the plugins menu and to use it. Can anyone help? It's a crescendo plugin. Thanks

Did you follow the installation instructions on the "What is a plugin?" page? http://musescore.org/node/10129

If you followed those instructions - putting that .js file in the place where the instructions tell you to put it - then the plugin will show up in the Plugins menu next time you start MuseScore.

Yes, i put the file in the musescore app bundle and reopened. It doesn't show up in the plugins menu though. I'm sure I'm doing it wrong but i don't know what 'it' is. Additionally, nowhere do i find 'show package contents' when i right click as instructed.

Well, I suspect that is why it isn't working - you really need to get the package contents somehow. I'm not a Mac person so I can't help, but maybe someone around you is more familiar with this kind of stuff? As far as I know, this is not MuseScore-specific; the whole "package content" thing is universal to all Mac programs. It's just that most of the time, ordinary users don't need to mess with it.

Thanks. I've started using mac only recently and I think that gets me on the right track.

In this particular case, you don't need to mess with the package content either. You can just drop the js file in /Library/Application Support/MusE/MuseScore/plugins. Create the missing folders if necessary.
Thanks lasc. I'm not sure where that is but I'm going to look.
I've got the cresc. plugin working with single note lines. When I use it with e.g. tied whole notes, there's no change in velocity. Say it goes from f to pp, nothing. I tried setting it from a 1/4 before through the tie then and still nothing through the tie. My process is put dynamic markings (e.g.f pp),control select 1st and last note after putting cresc or dim sign where it goes, blue rectangle appears, go to cresc. plugin and select. Am I in error somewhere?

That's just something MuseScore doesn't support, unfortunately. MuseScore uses the "velocity" parameter of MIDI to control volume, and it only affects the start of the note.
