I need Opinions
At the Moment, I am composing my first Opera and Yesterday, I finished the Overture. Now I want to know what's good and what's not so goot and what can I do better?

Hi Benjamin!
I'm probably the wrong person to ask, since I am not too advanced in composition myself, but here are my thoughts:
I get the idea you want to create a dramatic effect in your opening. I would recommend you try one or more of the following:
Tremolo strings
Using more of the orchestra than just the violins. E.g. on the single notes in measures 3 and 7, try bringing in the brass in the background (esp. the French horns) to fill in the C major chord and give more "meat" to your sound. You can even use the woodwinds here.
Use your woodwinds (esp. flutes) to double the strings in and fill in chords the smooth, flowing melodies of half-notes in measure 11 and further! When the strings are playing eighth-notes later on, keep the woodwinds at half-notes (or even slower, tied-over rhythms) and fill in the chords.
You can safely double the violins in the flutes everywhere, since it is a very common procedure in orchestrastion.
Regards
funny, but i dont think timpani is a good idea playing along with solostrings, i gave the part to double bass tremolo and pushed the violins 1 octave up, sounds like this
