Staccato dots placed too high above/below stems - make a style setting
Staccato articulations are not located or displayed properly in a 2-voice measure. See attached scorelet example: articulation+voices_issue.mscz
Per @mike320: "It seems the staccato marks are being placed in relationship to the head rather than the beam, which is wrong. This becomes obvious if you move the middle notes an octave toward the beams in the second measure of your attached score."

Steps to repro:
1. Enter some beamed eighth notes
2. Switch to voice 2
3. Enter more beamed eighth notes
4. Select the whole measure
5. Shift-s

Note that if the notes are staccato prior to adding the second voice, they are correct until the second voice is added (i.e., the same incorrect result is obtained regardless of when the articulation is applied).
I suggested this be made critical because it's a basic primary function in music notation. Frequency is few because there are now 2 of us reporting this.
I'm not seeing this in 3.0.5. can anyone still reproduce?

See attached score for examples. The problem is that staccato dots are being applied too far above or below the notebeams. The distance seems OK when applied above/below noteheads. Workaround is to adjust manually.
This also affects other symbols: see #283456: Mordents, Trills etc.: default Anchor setting (i.e. "Above Staff") too high above staff.
Well, that's a much more subtle difference than shown in the original, not really the same thing at all. I measured the distance from the dot to the beam as compared to from the dot to the stem of the unbeamed note and it's virtually identical, so I don't think beams are even involved here - it seems you are just wanting dots closer to stems. Gould recommends about 0.5 sp, looks like we are more like around 0.8 sp (it's actually 1 sp measured to the center of the dot, I think).
Probably this should be a style setting, with the default slightly less than current. We have a few of these, but we don't use them consistently, and this specific case is hard-coded.
