Use voice 1 to enter notes instead of the voice you used. Since it seems you already entered notes into the wrong voice, exchange that voice with voice 1 and then delete all of the whole rests left in that voice.
Thank you. I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I want to have no default rest in the measures. I do not want notes, hidden or otherwise. I use the staff for graphics and other things. This is possible in Finale -- which I have abandoned.
My workaround is to select all of the measures and Make Invisible. However, when I do enter notes, the rests in the measure are/remain invisible. As I recall however, in Finale there was no way to hide just one default rest. This will work for now.
Thank you
I'm writing a piece for brass quintet and five channels of electroacoustics. In previous pieces working from Finale, I have created 10-15 blank empty staves. I have added the notes I would use and then exported the MIDI files and created audio files in Logic, which were then further processed using digital audio techniques.
I like the basic thinking in museScore. It is clear and logical. I came from Finale after using it for over 3 decades.
I have an unrelated question about note spacing. Should I start another thread?

In that case, right click a rest, choose select>all similar elements and press V. They will look gray on the screen, but won't print.

Many thanks.

Is this staff independent or is it applied to all occurrences of the element?
Thanks.

What are you actually trying to do? There might be an easier way.

I don't understand the purpose of the 10-15 bland empty staves.
For the spacing question you should start a new thread. I'll probably try to answer it, but it's better for others looking for the same answer.
