Verses in repeats
I have a song with two verses which uses repeats for the second verse. There is a word in the first verse, but the second verse has two words at that point, so I need a quaver in the first verse and two semi-quavers in the second verse. I can't find how to enter the two semi-quavers for the second verse at the same place as the quaver for the first verse.

I cannot use a second voice for the two words of the second verse, as both would be played back during both verses. I need the single note for the first verse and the two notes for the second verse. The score I am trying to copy shows the two semi-quavers smaller than the quaver and next to it.

I'm trying to input a version of "My Way", so I can hear what the note sound like, as I can't read music, nor play any instrument. It's useful when learning new songs in my choir.

The way to do this is by using multiple voices, as mentioned above. If hearing them both on playback bothers you, then make some of the notes silent by unchecking "Play" in the Inspector. But multiple voices is absolutely the way to do this.

From what you are saying, there is no way to hear one note in verse one and two in verse two. I know very little about music, which is why I'm such a big fan of Musescore, but I thought the fact that the score I'm "copying" has a quaver corresponding to the one word in verse1 and two smaller semi-quavers for the two words in verse 2 meant it was a "standard" feature of musical notation. To sum up, it appears that repetitions can only repeat exactly the same notes each time?

What you want is not uncommon, but MuseScore does not have the ability to play certain notes on certain repetitions. MuseScore is first a notation software but there is more emphasis on playback recently so it's not out of the question that such a playback will be possible one day.

So to be clear, multiple voices is indeed a standard feature of music notation, and that is why MuseScore supports it. Using multiple voices to indicate different rhythms between verses is fairly common as well, and MuseScore supports that too, but indeed, we don't yet support a way of specifying which notes should be played on which repetition. The only such variation e support is the use of voltas (first/second endings).

Maybe... Another way to get this, is to write two different bars to each repetition, and use one in the first repeat and the other in the second repeat. See the item "Voltas", in the MuseScore Handbook.

Voltas are not intended to work that way, but it may work any way.
