This affects "RH Guitar Fingering" and "Fingering."
- Open the attached file and select one of the "RH Guitar Fingering" symbols in measure 1.
- Set the "Placement" to "Below."
- Press the "Set as Style" button for that property.
Expected result: All RH Guitar Fingering is set to below the staff.
Actual result: The selected fingering returns to the "Above" position.
The same thing happens with voice 2 RH Guitar Fingering, except here the Style placement cannot be changed from "Below." Similar thing happens with "Fingering" in measure 2.

Currently this is by design - placement depends on staff position (above for top staff of an instrument, below for bottom). Eventually we could come up with an "auto" setting for such cases. Similar issue for fermatas, btw.

How can it be by design that clicking on "set as style" on a specific item changes the item itself?
That part is just an accident and would indeed be considered a (minor) bug. The "by design" (currently) is the fact that it doesn't actually change the default. I consider the main thrust rather this issue be about the request for the change in the design to allow a way of setting a default. If that is addressed, the other aspect will take care of itself.
