cue notes
I'm sure it's possible to select a measure in a score show cue notes (small notes typically indicating another part). I think I've done this before but can't locate the procedure in the online manual.

I have a piece where I have 14 bars that are notation only, no chord changes. I wanted cue notes and without noticing I selected small "chords" rather than "notes". The notes were made smaller and I went on.
After reading this I went back and checked and I saw that I had selected "chords" rather than notes so I added small "notes". The notes became even smaller.
I then deselected "chords" and the notes changed size again, getting larger.
Question: Should selecting chords when there are no changes change the size of the notes?

"Chord" in this context doesn't mean "chord symbol", it's the term for the collection of notes on a single stem. It's what you want to use in making cues notes, otherwise you get small noteheads but full size stems. The "Small" setting in the "Notes" section is only for making one single notehead within a chord small e.g., to mark one note as being optional, perhaps a harmony part, etc).

Thank you.

I notice, that, the as chords made smaller the size of 8th note stems and groups doesn't change appropriately. I mean it kind of does but looks too long and not quite proportional to the reduced note size. I would love to see a feature, where entire content of the staff could be made smaller with one click. Right now you need to select notes and rests separately to make them smaller. Also the ties do not seem to follow the action and reman normal size. I think cue notes are used quite a lot in sheet music and deserve a more automated handling including bulk actions.

Actually, you can do this a number of different ways, depending on your goal. to make the whole staff smaller, right-click it and go to Staff/Part Properties and check the Small box, or change the Scale. To make an individual note, or multiple selected notes, small along with all its components like stem, make sure you use the "Chord" rather than "Element" section fo the Inspector. This does miss ties, it is true, because they aren't connected to a single note. And you do need to do rests separately, that is true also. Probably a plugin could automate that nicely (I wrote one once for MuseScore 1.x, it's long out of date though). And eventually a dedicated cue feature could be added. But meanwhile, do make sure you are using the Chord section of the Isnpector which solves a lot of these problems already.

Thank you, yes I figured that. And yes a dedicated cue feature would be nice. Thank you for your reply:)
