D.S. Al Coda Problems
I have a D.S. Al Coda in my piece and the Segno starts with a tied note that I want to play again. I only want the one eighth note to be played. It's kind of hard to explain so I attached an image.

You need to use: "Menu>Tool>Measure>Split measure in front of the selected note".

That solution will add a rather odd syncopation and is not what I think the OP wants. "I only want the one eighth note to be played".
Jumping into the middle of a tied note is going to give the player problems. The safest method would be to write out those two measures. You won't need coda and to coda signs then.

in this case it is better to use a second voice. made invisible. This does not affect the first reading but allows you to hear the 2 tied notes when you return to the segno and does not need to add 2 or more bars in other circumstances.

But that doesn't help the poor player who is asked to start playing half way through a tied note. Sometimes you just have to abandon the idea of repeats and write out what you want to be played.

I don't see how that troubles the musician? It seems simple to me to understand that at first reading the notes are linked but not after the D.S al Coda... but it is true that I am French so very Cartesian...
I would rather edit the score to not have linked notes between measures, but if you must you can try the Grace Notes Palette with the same duration of the linked note, then mark it as invisible with the Inspector Panel (F8 key).
