Divisi playback
I am using musescore (which is superb) as a vehicle for choral part learning. I want to be able to re-play (eg) a tenor part which is "unison" (tenor1/tenor2 singing the same notes) for say 90% of the piece, with a few (maybe only 2 or three) bars divisi. (The point is I want to be able to play the tenor 1 or tenor 2 part separately, or with different instruments). I realise that I can:
1. Have a score with a stave for each tenor part. Play back is then simple, but it is a bit clumpy, and printouts are huge. It is a bit over the top if the divisi is (say) 3 or 4 bars out of 50.
2. Use voices. The problem is that each voice has to be entered in full (effectively the same as having a stave per part). Again a bit horrid if the divisi is only small compared to the whole piece.
What I would like to see is something like:
A common voice - used by all divisi voices - so that I could enter (say) voice 0 meaning it will play back whichever voice part I choose. Voice 1/2/3/4 would then play back all voice 0 notes plus their own voice part (ie voice 1/2/3/4/).
Maybe there are other ways of achieving this but I hope my requirement is clear??
Brilliant programme, thank you to all the developers.

Use voices for unison;
Add a stave for each tenor part when divisi;
Hide empty staves?

Thank you so much for your time in replying. What you have suggested will work, but it can be still quite an overhead. I have at least found out that I'm not missing something and that musescore doesn't quite meet my ideal requirement.
What you really want doesn't exist. A smart parts generator that knows that unison is for both parts and divisi has notes for each part. There is no easy way to do what you want without copying tenor 1 parts to one staff, tenor 2 parts to another staff then make those invisible by opening instruments (press i) and remove the check from visible after the notes are entered. Finally silence the notes on the original staff (you can mute it in the mixer). It's not easy to maintain, but lets you do what you want. You can then either create parts (using the now invisible staves for the tenors) or mute unwanted parts in the mixer. Creating parts for Tenor I and Tenor II, each with all other instruments/voices, might be the best route in my opinion.

Thank you so much for your reply. At least I found out I'm not missing something obvious. Hopefully one of the developers will have a look at this requirement and maybe one day add some capability to a later version of musescore.

So much is being changed for 4.0 but I don't know that this specifically is being addressed. I'm going to look through the issue tracker and make sure there is a suggestion to add this feature. It's one I'd very much like to see.
Suggestion entered at #311077: Make parts generation smarter using divisi and unis.
