Custom anchors

I'd like to have the option to center a text element on a note.
A possible workaround is to use fingering text and to replace it with whatever is needed. https://musescore.org/en/handbook/text-basics#text-anchors

Also, I don't quite understand the last part of the inspector of text elements.
The text type (e. g., System Text) appears with the settings 'Style', 'Placement', and 'Properties', but as far as I know both style and placement settings are common for all these text elements.
For this reason, I think these two shared attributes should go on their own inspector field (called 'Anchored element' or something like that), along with the 'Anchor point' setting I'd like to have.

Moreover, for some reason I don't understand, text style presets are grouped in a general big group (staff/system text, lyrics, chord symbols, numeral analysis...) and then a little group (fingerings, string number). This makes the workaround to the issue of anchoring whatever text the user wants lengthier if the text element was already created.

Or maybe the 'Style' setting should go inside the bigger 'Text' field; leaving 'Placement' and 'Anchor point' in the proposed 'Anchored element' field. Not sure though, because 'Style' affects elements from the two fields (e.g. 'Text size' and 'Anchor point').

[edit]:
'Style' doesn't affect the anchoring, as one can change the style of a frame text to something that's not a frame text or vice versa and the anchoring doesn't change. So I think 'Style' presets should definitely go inside the big 'Text' field.

Really, the ability to change the anchoring of certain elements, not only text, would be very useful. See here, I'm trying to mark time positions with a symbol.

It would already be such a time saver to be able to copy and paste the symbol from barline to barline instead of pasting it to existing notes/rests and messing around with X and Y offsets every time...

+1 for the option to anchor staff text to the beginning bar line. And also:

  • the option to select a bar and paste text or other object that anchor to it, as we can do with notes.
  • the option to drag an anchor/reference point to a different note or object.

If I'm understanding your request regarding centering text over notes, you can do that the Inspector's Text>"center align" button.

For me "center align" doesn't really work, because it always takes the left edge of the note as the reference point.

In my opinion, it should take the left edge as reference in 'align left edge' (as it does now), the center point in 'center text', and the right edge in 'align right edge'. Maybe it's not the need of everyone but even providing an option to customize it (like 'Anchor point': left edge/middle point/right edge) I think it's a sensible default.

With fingerings the system doesn't respond well either: selecting 'align left' moves them to the right and vice versa.

"With fingerings the system doesn't respond well either: selecting 'align left' moves them to the right and vice versa."

That is because in this situation "align left" means the left edge of the text object is aligned with the reference point, so to do that the text itself must move to the right.
