Don't play this measure, skip it!
I'm correcting a student piece. His whole measure needs surgery. I'd like to insert my rewrite of the measure, and have it played instead, i.e., mark the original "Don't play!".

Nice idea! For now, I'd consider adding a separate staff, set it to cutaway and always hide when empty, and add your measure there - ablow or below, like an ossia. Then you can simply silence the original notes in the Inspector. Really, I'd personally prefer to see it that way anyhow, but still, a direct "goto" statement seems like it would be harmless enough :-).

Correct the score, send it to the student, and suggest they use the Compare Scores tool?

I don't like this solution, although I ultimately did that (just corrected the measure and say "look at it").
Add a volta, change the repeatlist to something not encountered (repeatList 99 for example) so playback will skip it. Change the begin text for it to your explanation.
Further clarification EDIT: I mean to add the volta to the original measure. Then insert your corrected/example measure in front/behind it. You'll likely also want to apply a measure number offset of -1 to the inserted measure (or -x if it is for x measures).

Didn't see this until now somehow. This is excellent, thanks. Exactly what I was looking for.
