MIDI Conversion
I downloaded one of my scores as a midi file, but the marching bass drums are playing back as actual notes while the snares and tenors are playing back as normal.

What do you mean by "downloaded"? Are you referring to the score sharing website musescore.com? And when you say the bass drums are "playing back", what software you using the play the MIDI file? Probably you just need to make sure that your playback software is configured to use the same drumset that you used when creating the original score in MuseScore.
