CHANGING INSTRUMENTS
This is something which I do not know how to do.
I am writing some variations.
I want to have one composed as a harp, the next a flute, the next, a marimba.
I would like to put the notes on the same Clef......BUT
As far as I can tell, the instrument change from one variation to the next, i.e. harp for 16 bars then flute for 32, then say marimba, will change the sound right back to the start . I would like my choice of instruments to be able to replace the preceding one throughout the entire piece.
Is there a way in which I can choose an instrument to play one variation and then, at the barline for the start of the next, program Musescore to use a different instrument without this affecting the previous variation ? Sam

Do you know a musician that can play all those instruments, and switch between them in the same piece? That would be pretty rare. Normally you'd notate these different instruments on different staves, because you'll need to give the parts to different musicians. but if you do know a musicians that plays them all and thus you want a single part, just add the instrument change element from the Text element.
You can choose how you wish to do this.
One way is to create your score with separate instruments: harp, flute, marimba. Then enter each variation on the staff for the instrument that plays that variation. When done, you can hide empty staves via Format > Style > Score > 'Hide empty staves within system'. The result is that only the staves populated with notes will display.
