Audio crackling when using playback function (Linux)

Hey everyone,
I am using musescore 3.6 on LM 20.3 and I have the issue that sometimes (seemingly randomly) when I use the playback function or just click on notes/chords I just hear distorted/crackling audio.
Under settings -> I/O I selected Portaudio (ALSA).
I tried to switch to pulseaudio or Jack but when I did I couldn't execute the playback function anymore. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?
