Chord sheets with lyrics (transposeable)

• Dec 18, 2022 - 08:29

Hello,

I am a musician/producer who has been a long-time Sibelius user which now is in the process of switching to MuseScore 4. This new rewrite rocks! While I do use music notation, I also write simpler chord sheets for use in church. For now, this has been written purely in Microsoft Word. These chord sheets mainly include lyrics with chords above them, but I have developed a template for myself that adds bars on top of the lyrics as well. This makes it very easy for musicians to play along with the music without having to know the song.

My dream as a contemporary church musician would be to do all sheet music writing in one program. My idea is to be able to create these chord sheets in MuseScore as well. Attached is a chord sheet for a song so you have a better picture of what my idea is all about. I've also added a version that explains the different elements (the notes on here are in Norwegian, but I think it should be understandable). The goals with this template is to display as much information as possible on one single page so one doesn't have to scroll between pages while playing.

The main issue with writing these sheets in Word is that there are no working tools for music available whatsoever for Mac at least. It works okay to write these sheets in Word, but I miss a straightforward way to transpose sheets when that is necessary (which is quite often as vocalists often change).

For me, this function doesn't really need to be advanced. It could be text editorothatch also takes chord symbols into consideration. If there was a possibility to add/state text as chords in the middle of the document (as you can see in the bars above the lyrics), this would be great. The dream would then be to be able to transpose just these chord symbols with the touch of a single button.

I hope my request is understandable. If not, I am happy to elaborate.

Yes! Its the only thing I wanted to test for musescore, since the sheet management is perfect. Sadly I cant create lyric sheets with transposeable chords - just like on ultimate-guitar.com.

sad, won't use the program then.
