With 32GB RAM do you still encounter crackles & glitches during playback?
Like many of you, I’ve experienced stutters, crackles, and glitches during playback in MS4, depending on how many instruments are playing simultaneously.
My PC is an i5 with 16GB RAM. But it’s getting a bit ‘long in the tooth’ and for various reasons I’m considering upgrading to an i9 12900k machine with 32GB RAM.
My question is for those of you who are running MS4 on machines with 32GB RAM: Do you still experience stutters, crackles, and glitches during playback with 32GB RAM?

By all means, upgrade if you can.
But just know that it is entirely possible to get good playback on the machine you have. You might need to get an audio interface. Maybe not.
My 5th gen i5, 16 gigs of ram and an SSD. Runs MS4 well. All my other computers are vastly under powered but with the proper settings ( and my Scarlett) run well also.

Thx bobjp. You said, "You might need to get an audio interface." I have one -- I'm running a Presonus Studio 1810 audio interface. And, like you, I use an SSD (external). Also, I've tried various PC system settings as suggested on this forum.
I'll likely upgrade -- in my DAW I've been using Spitfire's 'BBC Symphony Orchestra' and Orchestral Tools' 'Berlin Orchestra', and when the track count gets high they struggle. More RAM may solve all of these issues,
including MS 4 playback (hopefully).

It's possible that an external SSD isn't fast enough. If I recall, internal is best. The OS and important software all need to be on that same drive. A 1 TB internal SSD is a good start. Have you tried ALL the settings here? https://musescore.org/en/node/339915
You might not need them all but it;s a good place to start. It's about tuning your computer to your software.
I have seen a few posts where people had 32 gigs and still had some problems. So I don't think it's just about ram.
