You can delete rests by selecting them and pressing [Del] but you cannot remove rests in Voice 1. You can combine rests together to make one rest or you can "delete" rests to restore a whole-measure rest. You can make anything invisible by selecting it and pressing V. You can combine empty measure into multi-measure rests by pressing M.
