imported MusicXML doesn't save out

I imported a Music XML file created in Noteflight
it displays correctly
but I am unable to save, save as or save a copy as a mscz, xml or a pdf - I haven't tried the other formats

but the doc does show up and I am able to load the doc via 'open recent'

on Ubuntu 9.04
