Deleting rests
I have several extraneous rests in a bar and cannot delete them after editing a piece. Can someone help please?

Some rests can't and shouldn't be deleted. It's possible you have made the common mistake of not using voice 1 in each stave. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/working-multiple-voices for further information on that.
Someone may be able to provide more specific help if you attach the score here and explain which rests you are having difficulty with.
