How to change keys several times in a tune question

• Aug 14, 2023 - 18:04

Hello Musescore Experts,

I am re-transcribing a hand written arrangement of "A Nightengal Sang in Berkeley Square.

The hand written transcription starts in the key of Eb major in the A section of the tune (measures 1 thru 10), changes keys to G major in the B section (measures 11 thru 20), and then changes back the the key oF Eb major in Section C (measures 21 thru 32).

I have studied the Musescore web site that describes how to change keys... but it does not seem to cover how to change keys several times.

This tune has been sang by the old crooners in Db, and I want to write my Musescore re-transcription so that If I want to change Section A to be in Db, the other sections get changed apppropriately, also.

How do I do this?

Thanks,
Old Jimma

Open the Key Signatures palette, drag the G maj key on measure 11, then drag the Eb maj key on measure 21.

To change section A from Eb key to Db key first unselect all, then open "Tools/Transpose..." and then "Transpose Chromatically - To Key - Closest - Db major". The former G major section will change to F maj and the section C to Db maj.

Unfortunately in your score the chords are not modified when transposing. I don't know why, because if I set a new chord, it is modified in this case!
Ok, obviously it's because of the fretboard diagrams. Then chord transposing does not work.
You may call it a bug :-).
