Formatting melismas

I am using version 3, but I think I ran into the same problems with v4. I have two questions.
In the lyrics at the very beginning, I added numbers to identify the verse numbers, but can not add a space after the period. It shows "1.To", but would like to be "1. To". Can this be done?

Also in the first line, bar 3, the syllable "plete" spans 2 notes, so MuseScore will not allow a hyphen to connect the last syllable ("ly"). Can this be done?
