help please: how to input notes in real time
Hi, I'm a guitarist who wishes to make simple lead sheets for my compositions. I'm hoping to use a keyboard to play my melodies in real time and have the software transcribe what I do. It seems like this feature exists in Musescore, but I can't seem to make it work. It does exist in Dorio and Sibelius, but I like Musescore's interface and its ability to play typed chord symbols. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can input notes with your keyboard. Just not in real time.
Last time I looked, I believe Sibelius can play chord symbols.

Just for my own information, does this method really work very well? Especially for something a bit involved.

I have no idea. I have never tried it myself. I prefer the regular computer keyboard input. Bu hopefully, someone else is using it and can report on its usefulness.
