Yes, basically lyrics are "attached" to notes. Enter the notes, then select the first note that has a lyric attached to it and press Ctrl+L to begin entering your lyrics. See the Handbook at https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/lyrics (assuming you are using MuS v.4) for detailed instructions.
