Adding optional bass notes on a grand staff of voice 1 and voice 2 on each
I'm engraving a hymn which has 3 optional bass notes exactly one octave below the voice 2 bass notes at the end of the hymn. These added notes need to be smaller in size (70%)? The final bass note is written as a regular extra note (NOT smaller in size) a perfect 5th below the voice 2 (bass) final note.
1) How do I add these notes, and
2) How do I make 3 of them smaller notes

Select the notes, go to Properties (F8), then check Cue Size (in the upper right under General).
Hope you find this to be helpful!

Hello Jake, Thanks for this great suggestion. This does work, but it changes the size of the original main note one octave above as well as the optional base note one octave below which is the selected note. The original note is the primary note the basses are to sing so it must be full-size. Only the added note, one octave below, should be changed to a smaller (optional) note.
How can I fix this?

The "Small notehead" option (Properties>Note>Head>check Small Notehead) will probably work better for that purpose.

Excellent suggestion. Quick and easy.
Use a 3rd Voice.
