Custom Bar Numbering Capabilities
I work in musical theatre and oftentimes we use custom bar numbering when we insert bars in music. For example, if I wanted to insert 2 bars between bar 41 and 42, I would label them 41, 41A, 41B, 42.
There are workarounds, but these often can be problematic. Ideally, an overall "bar number matrix" or just an extended menu in bar properties for each bar would be nice. In addition, the ability to add an arrow before a bar number jump would be nice, i.e. if we cut from bar 41 to bar 50, we may right 41, (to 50), -> 50.

+1 to this! Exactly the same use case - bar numberings in musical theatre scores.
We can already use the "Add to bar number" field to set a displayed bar number that is different from the underlying actual bar number. It seems like all it needs might be to allow the displayed bar number to be a fully custom name - i.e. allow non-numerical characters.
Huge second to this. The measure number system in finale was amazing for setting up complicated measure settings. I would love this in MuseScore. I also have other requirement ideas. Please send me info on how best to go about doing this. I am a developer, but am new to the project, and not sure how best to add it in. Plug in? How would it affect the file format?
