Note input with a MIDI keyboard

I have written about this before. I would like to see the return of a standard notation software feature in version 4. When a note is played on a MIDI keyboard, the sound should sustain for as long as the key is pressed. Currently, the sound plays for a predetermined duration (500 ms by default).
