How do I change the staff type for a snare drum I want to use the full staff instead of a one line staff.

Right-click on the staff / Staff/part properties / Change number of lines (from 1 to 5), at the top of the dialog. But this won't change the fact that "Side Stick" and "Snare" will always be displayed on a single line (the top line). Is this what you really want?
