In Musescore 4.4.3, Glissando portamento doesn't seem working in the play back

• Dec 8, 2024 - 23:49

OS: macOS 14.6, Arch.: arm64, MuseScore Studio version (64-bit): 4.4.3-242971445, revision: eb6b367
I tried it on my windows 11 first but it didn't work, then I turned to my macbook and the same problem occurs
I looked through the Forum here and in github and found similar problems from other users, but I do see from some videos they've uploaded that, portamento does work for some instruments. In my case, I've tried voice and woodwinds but neither of them worked, which is quite frustrating since I am currently working on a choir piece and a big-band piece.
I wonder if there's a way to fix it, it seems like I'm the only one with this problem.

Hi,
I am working on the same problem. I need to use quite a few straight glissandi (or portamento) in a piece for orchestre. It is easy to implement that using the pallet menu, no problem. Also the meny for choosing between straight & wavy is easy and finally the choice of execution (chromatic, white/black keys, diatonic or portamento) was very straight forward.
However in playback there is no difference between straight or wavy, no matter what I try. Further there is a difference execution between instruments as well. The trombone plays back as wavy, all individual notes noticable. The violine starts with a type of trill and then at the end of the glide it suddenly moves to top note. Clearly there is a structural problem there.
I picked up a suggestion that in the harp properties there are more options to use and these could be copied into other instruments. I am going to try that out now.
Goodluck and let me know if you find a solution. Will do the same!
