Feature request: (in playback) ability to make arpeggios extend across a bar both horizontally and vertically

• Jan 15, 2025 - 12:28

Heya! So I ran into a couple of issues regarding arpeggios in playback.

  1. If you extend an arpeggio across two both the treble and bass cleft, it will only treat one of the bars as an arpeggio in playback. The obvious workaround is to put a separate arpeggio for both, but then the playback will then play both arpeggios simultaneously, which isn't ideal.

  2. I also noticed in playback that the length of an arpeggio is pretty short. I was hoping there would be a way to extend this to the full duration of the bar, but it seems that the highest setting doesn't allow for this

If anybody knows any solutions to this, please let me know! I've done quite a bit of digging and haven'g found a way to achieve it.

See various existing reports on Github, for example:

The usual way to deal with conflicts between the way Musescore displays and the way it plays back, is to add invisible notes in a different voice for playback, and disable playback of the visible notes,

In this case you would create a single arpeggiated chord with all the required notes, and hide the visible chords in both staves.
For longer arpeggios you could simply write an invisible sequence of notes rather than relying on the vertical notation.
