undo/redo toggle etc

• Mar 27, 2025 - 15:24

This might be a bug IDK. My Undo/Redo toggles have disappeared. And the options for page sizes have disappeared too. (Basically the entire right side of the workstation is gone.)
I downloaded the latest MS version yesterday and all was well. But my monitor was not at full screen and so when I restored that these toggles have disappeared. So I restarted. (I haven't rebooted yet)
Q: How to add these toggles back? (I can't find their options on the Settings task bar).
Q: I also need to know the command prompts for Undo/Redo?
Thanks!!

First, Undo / Redo are not "toggles". A "toggle" is a switch that turns something on or off. For example, the V shortcut or the Visible checkbox are "toggles": activate them and they change the "Visibilty" setting from off to on or from on to off. Play and Above / Below are the same. Instead, Undo / Redo are actions, which are usually activated by "buttons". However, I know that neither you nor anyone else is interested. :-)

Undo / Redo can only be meaningful when something has been done. So, they are both "disabled" (grayed out / hidden).

So, open a score and make a change. For example, change an F to an E or delete a note. As soon as you do, the Undo button appears in the upper right corner of the MuseScore window.

Likewise, Redo is meaningless until something has been "undone". So, hit the Undo button (to reverse the action you just took) and the Redo button appears next to where the Undo button was a moment ago.

Once you've both done things and undone things, both buttons will be enabled and appear.

To identify the keyboard shortcuts for the two actions, find them on the menu. (In this case, the Edit menu) The keyboard shortcuts--if they exist--are on the right side of the menu. (the highlighted items).
