saving in 4.5

I can't save in 4.5. The error reports make no sense. One ridiculous one is "Can't find the file" when the file is right there. Or I click "Save" when working on a file and it asks for "save as," but the file I'm working on is right there. If I click on it, it warns me about overwriting, but when I click again, it says, "File not found" when it JUST found the file. It has simply gone crazy. My recourse is to always save it to the same file name in a different folder, then drag it back to the original folder using Explorer. What is going on?

Never had a similar problem. That being said, is it possible to "save as" using a different file name? If the is a need, you can rename it later on Explorer level.

As you know, Save and Save As are two different procedures. The score you are working on in 4.5 is a copy of the one stored in the folder you save scores in. If you hit Save, the file is sent back to where ever it came from and automatically overwrites the original. I f you hit Save As, you will see the folder the file came from. You have the opportunity to save to a different place with a different name. If you just hit save again you will get the warning that the original file will be overwritten. This is normal. I always use Save As. Each time I save an incomplete score ( are they ever complete?) I save it with the same title, but a different version number. This so I can go back to an earlier version if I need to.
The order in which you are doing things and the messages your are getting is a little unclear to me.
Perhaps copy and paste would be a safer option for moving files.. But you obviously shouldn't have to save anything that way. How are you opening scores to begin with?
