Fermata increases tempo instead of decreases

Fermata normally decreases the tempo to 0.5x the original tempo.

Sometimes it increases the speed by 1.5x the original tempo instead. This seems to happen when adding fermatas on some instruments but not others.

Since the program has a global tempo it might not be able to handle different tempos for different instruments (?)

But in any case, fermata should never increase the tempo.
