HUngarian translation
Hi! I started the translation last summer, now it's almost complete (sorry for being so slow). The .ts file posted here was based on an earlier version of MuseScore.

Hi molnarm,
Perhaps you read my offer in another forum here - I like your translation (of the handbook as I found) and I offered my help to you as well as to thomas. I started some of the glossary(?) about box, accidentals .... and would be interested to continue. Please let me know - what I could help and I shall oblige.
(I found a few negligible misprints -shall I correct them?

Hi molnarm,
Thanks for the ts file. I'll be importing the file into the translation website. From now on, use this website to add translate MuseScore to Hungarian.
Update: import done.
1370 new translations added;
11 new suggestions added;
259 translations unchanged;
1 duplicate translation not saved;
334 source strings not found, their translations were ignored.
The last line indicates that a lot of the source strings where changed or removed. So, this is one of the reasons we use a translation server now, in order to avoid translating strings which are changed on short term.
See http://translate.musescore.org/translate/languages/hu
In reply to translation server by Thomas
Most probably you noticed that I translated a few pages of the manual and some of the strings as well. I have 2 (in fact, 2 and a half) problems.
(the half:) I always have to start from sctratch to access the Hungarian pages (Manual/Hungarian) and after every page I have to start all over again. I assume, if I had the Hungarian version, the pages would follow automatically. (But I prefer - at least for the time being to use the Emglish version).
1. The contents page - even after a few days after the submission of translations - only uses the English title of the page, but when I open the file, the titles are in Hungarian OK.
2. There are red titles also on the contents page - and when I click on them my access is denied. Then I open the English, click on 'Translate' and hey ho, I see my own translation submitted a few days before.
Could you advise me on the above? I also have a problem the reason of which I cannot understand. If I get into any detail work on the translation page, I cannot get further back all the way up to the MuseScore Homepage - I always have to open it from the internet browser - as if I were on a completely alien page. Is it a bug, or I do something wrong?
Thanks,
drikanb
In reply to Hi thomas, I have some difficulty by drikanb
Hi drikanb,
1. What is the contents page?
2. Follow this flow:
- Go at http://musescore.org/handbook
- Click on the page you wish to translate
- Click on the translate tab
- In case the translation does not yet exist, add the translation
- Once translated, copy the title the of Hungarian page
- go to http://musescore.org/hu/k%C3%A9zik%C3%B6nyv
- Edit the page
- Paste the title you copied in the right place (replace the English title or the wrong Hungarian one)
Following this flow, I replaced Installálás for Telepítés. See this diff and the final result.
I don't understand your last problem. Can you elaborate it a little more?
In reply to Answers by Thomas
Thank you for the prompt reply.
1. What is the contents page? When I click 'Handbook' the list of 'pages' appears. Short of better expression, I call it the 'contents page' - analogous to books.
2. I understand the flow - and follow (would follow if the problem below did not exist)
I don't understand your last problem. Can you elaborate it a little more?
Let me give you an example. Under 2, you gave me a flow, that I 'can' either memorise including the precise spelling of the links (that I cannot) or I have your advice in front of me and copy and paste the links if necessary. The problem is that the moment I go to the 'Translate' page, this page closes, and I cannot return to it as there is no tab, button, menu or otherwise that could return me to this page.
At the moment, I cheat, I have this page in one browser window, and the Translate page in another. When I finish anything on the Translate page, then I copy the URL of this page to that one - then I can click on Handbook, for instance - or Forums or anything. And I have to repeat it at least once after every page (but if I want to look up something for the translation, I have to shuttle between the two unrelated MuseScore 'homepages' more often)
I hope you understand - Try it for yourself. From here, go to 'Translate' and from there, try to come back to http://musescore.org (without cheating and writing the URL in manually)
In reply to Thank you for the prompt by drikanb
1) you mention that this contents page displays an English title. Can you point it out for me, where exactly?
2) I added a Back to musescore.org link on the translate website. Does that help?
Using multiple browser windows or tabs is not cheating. I have currently 15 windows/tabs open and shift through them using Alt+Tab or Ctrl+Tab and Alt+Shift+Tab or Ctrl+Shift+Tab

1) you mention that this contents page displays an English title. Can you point it out for me, where exactly?
Since your response, I replaced most of them. (Beam, Breath, Barline, for instance). The titles were indeed translated, but some of the titles are still red - and I seem to find no way to change it.
Thanks for the link 'Back to MuseScore.org' - I haven't had a chance to check it - I was coming back here, writing you this and previous comments....
I hope, your nightly updating will change the colour from red to blue (no political implications are meant).
In reply to 1) you mention that this by drikanb
For anynomous users, i.e. not logged in users, there is indeed a delay since everything is being cached.
For logged users however, changes should be displayed right away. So when a link is still displayed in red, it means that the text in the link does not match with an existing title.
In reply to Solutions perhaps? by Thomas
Hi thomas, I think I solved my last query too!
I think the title is only red, when the page and the 'contents page' title are not the identical (I noticed a misprint on the title of the actual page, corrected it, and then it turned blue). I Try it with another one, and if it works, I promise, I won't trouble you again. With this.
In reply to Hi thomas, I think I solved by drikanb
Hi drikanb,
Indeed, the text in the handbook index page (contents) must match with a handbook page title. If not, it turns red. The fact tha it sends you to a page not found is something which could be improved in the software.
In reply to Answers by Thomas
'Flow 2' is exactly the way I had been translating several pages before I asked your help (Including your 'this diff' and 'final result' - that is what I get when click on 'preview changes').
Something that was indeed new to me was that you could 'translate' the contents page too. BUT clicking on 'Translate' (then selecting Hungarian) would revert to 'Edit'. In order to effect changes (and be able to look at your 'this diff' and 'final result') I replaced some dummy letters in the title - that I could save sometimes, and sometimes I failed. Then I changed the titles back (and checked the changes in the 'preview changes', saved and the program mostly saved it right, but the title remained red, and my access is still denied. So, is there any way to change that?
(Regarding 'how to get back'; I found one link: on the bottom of the (Translate) page: 'Contact' that would take me to your index page (and from there it is only six steps to get back here.)
In reply to 'Flow 2' is exactly the way I by drikanb
I believe that learning how to switch between browser tabs might help you a lot. The best browser currently is Google Chrome. This video will reveal some very interesting short cuts which will make you work faster.
It seems that I translated the outstanding parts of the handbook and the glossary-like list. Regarding the former, I think, molnarm and myself should read it through and discuss it a few times.
Outstanding issues regarding the handbook:
1. consistency in naming menus, palettes and modes (in other words: cross-references). There is another consistency issue: there are standard menus (File, Edit, Tools etc.) that are translated to Hungarian automatically under the Hungarian versions of Windows and also under Linux. molnarm and I should check consistency of our main menu expressions with the Hungarian Windows and with the Hungarian Linux - especially in order top avoid conflict between our translation and the automatic translations of the OS.
2. I translated the names of the panels referred to in the text, but as far as I could see, the panel titles are not translated. I think we shall need some guidance from you on how we could change (translate) panel titles, menu items and all the items that are subject to cross-referencing.
regards
drikanb
ps. there are a few issues, that could be improved in the (english original of the) handbook. I shall check some points again in the literature - and I shall return to you with those issues.

No menus are translated automatically, we translate them, using the well-known titles found in other programs (e.g. Save As... = Mentés másként... - they doesn't have the same meaning, but this is the common name for that function.)
Yes, we should ensure that the handbook uses the same names and titles as the software.
The software translation can be updated daily with the .qm file downloaded from here: http://translate.musescore.org/translate/languages/hu/download

You can find them among other strings.

"The software translation can be updated daily with the .qm file downloaded from here..."
Alternatively, if you are on Windows the nightly always uses the latest translations from the website.
In reply to Hi thomas, raw Hungarian translation is complete by drikanb
Hi drikanb,
The translation is not completely finished yet. The reason is that not all book pages are mentioned [[nodetitle:handbook|in the index page]] . You can see the translation status on this page. Only when all 'book pages' are translated, we can compile a pdf of the Hungarian handbook.
Also, don't forget the remaining menu pages.
In any case, great work, from all of you!

I can't see movements on the translation front - and it appears to me, there is nothing much yet to be done. I've gone through the missing book pages and I don't find anything requiring translation (or I could not identify from the original English and Hungarian texts what needed to be "updated").
Also, don't forget the remaining menu pages.
I didn't forget, because I never knew where those menu pages were.If you let me know, I shall go through those items too.

Hi drikanb,
I forgot to check your progress from time to time and I just saw that indeed, all the menu pages are translated as well as all the handbook pages. So we can compile a Hungarian handbook now and offer the pdf in the software as well as on the website. I will pass on this request to David who is making the handbook pdf files.
In reply to I can't see movements on the by drikanb
Hi drikanb,
Could you translate this page? Simply click on the 'edit' tab and not translate tab since this is already the Hungarian page. The English text needs to be replaced.
In reply to I can't see movements on the by drikanb
One last thing I need to know to compile the PDF is how to say "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2", etc in Hungarian?
In reply to One last thing I need to know by David Bolton
David,
I'm still outlining the pages in the Hungarian handbook. I started manually, but will make a script now instead. It's an awful job otherwise. I'll keep you posted.
In reply to outlining by Thomas
Consider it done. Fixed it manually after all.

It's elementary Hungarian, my dear Watson!
Structure: Első (=First) fejezet (=Chapter), thus:
(1)
Első fejezet
(2)
Második fejezet
(3)
Harmadik fejezet
(4)
Negyedik fejezet
(5)
Ötödik fejezet
(6)
Hatodik fejezet
(7)
Hetedik fejezet
(Just in case):
(8)
Nyolcadik fejezet
(9)
Kilencedik fejezet
(10)
Tizedik fejezet

Just to inform you that David added the handbook to the repository. It is now also available for download at Kézikönyv.
Thanks for all the great work everyone!
hi thomas_, I downloaded the Hungrian Handbook (.pdf) and found a few pages that are still to be translated (or have misprints) - but I cannot find the originals. For instance: Első lépések ('Getting Started', the very first page). The Heading is translated but the main body is not....
And also, where can I find and translate the file menus (As I am using the English version, I could not check whether the Hungarian version has correct menu pages or not)?
In reply to hi thomas_, I downloaded the by drikanb
Your first question should be answered in this screencast: http://screenr.com/rBh
I'm not sure what you mean with the file menus. Can you explain?
In reply to Translating Hungarian handbook by Thomas
thomas, I appreciate your quick response, I enjoyed the video that shows exactly how I translated a large number of pages - those which I had found. But I cannot edit the .pdf Handbook, and I am unable to open the title page (with the Main Heading: Getting Started) in English or Hungarian anywhere on MuseScore site. Send me a link that would open that page, please
File menus sorry - in the course of composing my reply, I accidently made an extra coy-paste sequence. What I meant was: menu files which you mentioned a few weeks back, that I should not forget.
I assume there are files that contain the text of the different menus. And I also assumed that in order to make the menus appear in Hungarian, they need to be translated (preferably consistently with the references in the Handbook).
So, where are they, and how can I translate them?
In reply to thomas, I appreciate your by drikanb
Let's focus on each problem separately because I'm afraid we are getting confused otherwise.
When I go to http://musescore.org/hu/node/1944 and I download the Hungarian handbook, I see all text in Hungarian except for the intro text which you can find here: http://musescore.org/hu/node/1935 So, I don't see any problem with Getting Started.
Can you confirm this? Did you actually download the Hungarian pdf or the English one?
In case you are really looking for the Getting Started page for whatever kind of reason, the search would help you best I presume. Go to http://musescore.org/en and fill in 'Getting started' in the search form in the right sidebar. The first result is the good one and brings us to http://musescore.org/handbook/getting-started
From there you can get to the Hungarian translation by clicking on the translate tab and select the Hungarian link.
I'm not sure what the exact problem is, but I presume you downloaded the English handbook somehow.
In reply to thomas, I appreciate your by drikanb
When I download the Hungarian pdf, I conclude that the first page still needs to be translated. That is this one: http://musescore.org/node/1935 So replace the English text with the Hungarian one and once done, David can remake the Hungarian pdf.
if you see more changes that need to be done, go ahead and when you're finished, let us know when we can compile a new pdf handbook.
In reply to To conclude by Thomas
We'd rather wait with creating a new version of the Hungarian handbook: there are inconsistencies between the handbook and the software. I'm working on fixing them.
In reply to thomas, I appreciate your by drikanb
Currently, all the menu pages at the top of the right sidebar are translated. When I go to http://musescore.org/hu , I see Letöltés, Különleges tulajdonságok, Képernyő minták, Kézikönyv, Fórum, Fejleszté, Adományok
So that's seems done to me.
All in all, this is superb work drikanb. You've done it in a record time.

Thank you thomas_, but credit is largely due to molnarm. However, I'd have a question: recently I received 2 "noreply" mails from musescore with quotes from the Hungarian translation. There was no indication why I received the mails and what I was supposed to do about it. I looked up the 'Translate' site and the 'pages' link - and I could not identify whether the said pages needed an update.
To make the identification of changes more manageable, it would be handy to compare either the English original before and after the update. or having a 'two-pane' facility for simultaneously seeing the updated English version and the -previously translated - Hungarian version being edited.
In reply to Thank you thomas_, but credit by drikanb
Frome my experience with the french translation, you got mail when someone edits the hungarian translation. To know what has changed, check the revisions tab and do a diff.
You can do the same for the english original normally.
I agree that having the english text and the language to translate in the same page could be good. You can also use two tabs in your favorite browser (Ctrl + T)
In reply to Frome my experience with the by [DELETED] 5
Thanks lasconic, I found those tabs, but I had to do different tricks to update the pages.
Obviously, I can use 2 browser windows, but - in order to avoid accidental confusion of the pages - thus making mistakes in one or the other -, I used a .txt file-t for the original and the musescore editing page for the Hungarian version when I was translating my bit. I was only wandering, whether there was a facility or a plan to have such a facility as in eg. MS Word, where you could change from Window1 to Window2 (or even, you could split the screen into the two files).
