Delete measures on a Mac
I AM TRYING TO DELETE MEASURES IN THE MIDDLE OF A COMPOSITION TO SHORTEN IT. I HAVE A MAC. THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE TO USE Command+Fn+Backspace. What is FN?

FN is the function-key on a laptop. It is normally located bottom left to the ctrl key.

A regular keyboard does not have an Fn button. How do you delete if your computer is not a laptop but an Imac?

If you have a delete key on your keyboard then use it: ⌘+Del (Fn+Backspace is equivalent of Delete for Mac's without a Delete key).
If you are using the release candidate for version 0.9.6 or later then you can also use the menu item: Edit > Delete Selected Measures.
Thank you for your prompt reply. Before I sent the message I had already tried all the suggested methods. None of them worked. I click on the measure and the blue frame appears and the notes also turn blue. Then I proceed with the suggested delete moves but they do not work. Single click or double click, the same. Am I missing something?
BTW I can delete notes within a measure, but not the measure itself.

Which version of MuseScore are you using?

I recommend you download the release candidate for 0.9.6 and follow my instructions above . The behavior has changed between these two version. In version 0.9.5 it is more difficult and you need to make sure you get a dotted line before you press delete. If you are using version 0.9.5 you need to read the instructions specific to version 0.9.5 in measure operations .

I have downloaded 0.9.6. I am unable to get a dotted line. How do I get a dotted line? When I click on the measure I get a solid line frame and I can delete the notes but not the measure.
BTW When i downloaded the 0.9.6, I replaced the 0.9.5. Was that a smart move?

it was a smart move.
Once you have selected the specific bar, have a look in the "Edit" Menu.
Read through the possibilities you have there - and you will find, what you are looking for :-)

I mentioned above, the dotted line was 0.9.5.

Thank you for your help. The new version has an item "Delete selected measures" and it works like a charm.
